Wonderful rocks is a fascinating place in Bulgaria, located in the Varna region. It is not on the beach, but close to it. We visited the spot during one of our recent summer holidays and we liked it a lot.

The Wonderful Rocks are rock towers located on the shores of Tsonevo Dam – the third largest dam in Bulgaria, built in 1974 on the Luda (means Crazy) Kamchia River. The river is the main tributary of the Kamchia River – one of the largest rivers in Bulgaria. If you see these rocks proudly rising above the water surface and quietly looking at it, you understand that the name corresponds exactly to the place.

Tunnels was dug through the rocks because of the old asphalt road passing through them. The main road Provadia – Aytos and the railway line Karnobat – Varna pass very close to the rocks as well.

From the large number of fishermen who cast their rods from the shores of the dam, we had the impression that the place is very good for fishing. We also saw a group of kayakers. There is also a tourist hut nearby.

One possible route by car to them is to take the main road from Varna to Burgas and in the village of Staro Oryahovo to turn to Provadia, then, passing through Grozdyovo to continue to the village of Asparuhovo. The rocks are located about 55 km from Staro Oryahovo. You can find the place on Google maps and use a navigation.
