12 incredible sights in the heart of Strandzha Mountains

At the end of last July we spent three wonderful days in the heart of Strandzha Mountains in the area of Malko Tarnovo. This was our second visit to the region. We were there 7 years ago. At that time, our goal was to visit the most important sights within the town and to try to feel a bit of its atmosphere. We liked the area and not only that – we were truly amazed. We understood that there were plenty of interesting places to see and what we had already seen was a very small part of everything.

Chirpan Monastery “St. Athanasius”: the oldest one in Europe

The monastery of St. Athanasius is one of the many places I have come across to. We were traveling on the Maritsa highway to the village of Mezek and we saw a road sign to the monastery. The plaque was new, the turn-off too, so I thought maybe it was a new tourist site.We passed the sign and forgot about this monastery. A few days later, when we came back to Sofia, the plaque reminded us for the monastery again. I pulled out the phone, asked Google for more information, and realized the importance of the place. Unfortunately, it was too late that day, but I promised I would be back soon.

10 months later we visited this holy place. Now, I would like to tell you about it.

Pula – the sea pearl of Croatia

I admit I had not heard of the town of Pula in Croatia until recently. It happened that Pula was one of our great findings during the year before. We were travelling from Bela Krajina, Slovenia, to Venice and as we wanted to enrich our adventure a bit with some more places to see on the road, Pula emerged as a promising ancient site with remains of Roman times. We were totally impressed by the information we found, and we decided to get there. We identified several places to visit and so we moved from plan to action.

A walk in Trieste – 6 must see spots

Trieste. It was my first real walk in Italian city. In fact, before that I have been once in Italy, but then I only passed transit through the country with stopover to Bergamo Airport in Milan. This time everything was different. We traveled by car from the Bela Kraijna region, Slovenia, to Venice and we stopped in Trieste for a short break. We had in mind a few interesting places to visit, so we parked in the central part of a city and started to look for them.

Krushuna waterfalls: incredible beauty and breath of freshness

No doubt, the Krushuna waterfalls are one of the most beautiful and interesting places to see in Bulgaria. In addition, the place can be reached quite lazy – by car. Beside that, you can walk around them on a relatively short eco path without much efforts. All this makes them one of the most visited natural landmarks in our country in the recent years.
